Strain-induced shape anisotropy in antiferromagnetic structures

نویسندگان

چکیده

We demonstrate how shape-dependent strain can be used to control antiferromagnetic order in NiO/Pt thin films. For rectangular elements patterned along the easy and hard magnetocrystalline anisotropy axes of our film, we observe different domain structures identify magnetoelastic interactions that are distinct for configurations. reproduce experimental observations by modeling interactions, considering spontaneous induced configuration, as well elastic due substrate shape patterns. This allows us explain variation aspect ratio ground-state configuration. Shape-dependent does not only need considered design devices, but potentially tailor their properties, providing an additional handle antiferromagnets.

Strain-induced ferromagnetism in antiferromagnetic LuMnO3 thin films.

Single phase and strained LuMnO(3) thin films are discovered to display coexisting ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic orders. A large moment ferromagnetism (≈1μ(B)), which is absent in bulk samples, is shown to display a magnetic moment distribution that is peaked at the highly strained substrate-film interface. We further show that the strain-induced ferromagnetism and the antiferromagnetic o...

Spatial detection of ferromagnetic wires using GMR sensor and based on shape induced anisotropy

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new technique for row spacing measurement in a wire array using giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor. The self-rectifying property of the GMR-based probes leads to accurately detection of the magnetic field fluctuations caused by surface-breaking cracks in conductive materials, shape-induced magnetic anisotropy, etc. The ability to manufacture probes h...

Shape anisotropy: tensor distance to anisotropy measure

Fractional anisotropy (FA), defined as the distance of a diffusion tensor from its closest isotropic tensor, has been extensively studied as quantitative anisotropy measure for diffusion tensor magnetic resonance images (DT-MRI). It has been used to reveal the white matter profile of brain images, as guiding feature for seeding and stopping in fiber tractography and for the diagnosis and assess...

Conductivity anisotropy in the antiferromagnetic state of iron pnictides.

Recent experiments on iron pnictides have uncovered a large in-plane resistivity anisotropy with a surprising result: The system conducts better in the antiferromagnetic x direction than in the ferromagnetic y direction. We address this problem by calculating the ratio of the Drude weight along the x and y directions, D(x)/D(y), for the mean-field Q=(π,0) magnetic phase diagram of a five-band m...
